Professional Players Hall of Fame

Roy Pardue, Mike Willis, and Wayne Garland have been selected to the Old Timers Hall of Fame for their outstanding accomplishments as former professional players.

Pardue attended North High School, where he was MVP of the Nashville Interscholastic League in 1950 and 1951. With the hometown Nashville Vols in 1955, he was 17-10. His pro career ended in 1957; he became a pitching coach at Lipscomb from 1969-1980 and again from 1990-1996.

Garland was an All-City selection at Cohn High School and played for Post 5 in Connie Mack ball with Larry Schmittou. Drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in the 1st round of the 1969 amateur draft, he turned pro. In his last year with Baltimore, Garland produced a record of 20-7 before signing the first 10-year MLB contract with the Cleveland Indians. He retired after the 1981 season.

Willis graduated from Hillsboro High School and attended Vanderbilt University, playing for Schmittou’s three Connie Mack World Series teams. He spent six seasons in the minors before being drafted by the expansion Toronto Blue Jays. Willis’ pro career included 11 seasons.
